Blog of an American Muslim Girl

"And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing   guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."                           - Sylvia Path

Ever since I was young, I’ve had a vivid imagination, dreaming of different worlds and characters.  Three years ago, I finally mustered the courage to speak these dreams in words, when I started writing a novel.  But I was discouraged and disheartened by the lack of readers, for friends and family were much too busy.

Quickly realizing that a wide range of readers were available through the Internet, I started a blog.  Alhamdulillah, many have told me that they enjoy my writing and the story that I have created.

This is no ordinary blog, where the writer journals about personal life or shares mouth-watering recipes.
Blog of an American Muslim Girl is written from the perspective of a fictional character.  Sixteen-year old Iman is a bubbly teenager with an annoying younger brother, an accountant dad, and a mother who likes to clean with a passion.  Iman loves to cook, and has a friend obsessed with the Twilight saga and boys.  She hopes her sweet cousin can find the perfect husband, while she herself may be on the verge of having a serious crush.  Like most teenagers, she struggles under the influence of American culture while she attempts to stay firm on the path of Islam.
This isn’t a novel, but a writer’s journey to explore the life of a Muslim teenager.  It is my journey to practice and improve my writing while giving readers a chance to examine Muslim fiction, a rarity in the book market.  For those of you who have read and hope to delve in Iman's story, my sincere thanks to you.

Never stop dreaming,
Dreamer
